This compact barebone server not only supports today's state of the art dual socket processors enhanced with Gigabyte's digital PWM controllers, but also includes a large memory platform supporting up to 768GB of DRAM. It is built to be the best performing solution for computing and memory intensive applications (multi-tasking, virtualization, rendering, finance, science), and provide all the connectivity standards (10GbE LAN controller, SAS 6Gb/s, PCIe Gen 3.0) required to get the most out of it.
Also built with a 80 PLUS Gold power supply, it guarantees a high level of energy efficiency as well as the supply safety with full redundancy feature.
Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2600 V2 Product Family
Deployable through a simple BIOS update, the support of the Intel Xeon processors E5-2600 V2 product family delivers the benefits of the 22nm tri-gate process technology to the high end server industry. Those benefits include, among others, higher frequencies, higher core counts (up to 12 cores / 24 threads) and larger last-level caches, but especially a much more varied mix of core/frequencies with notably the introduction of a new dual socket workstation segment. This new die shrink also allows for overall energy efficiency increase, with up to 30% average decrease in idle power consumption.
Finally, virtualization applications will benefit from increased performance thanks to the Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller (APIC) technology, and more security features are included in the mix as well, such as the Intel® Platform Protection Technology with OS Guard, and Intel® Data Protection Technology with Secure Key.
Faster Memory, With GIGABYTE Only
Always eager to go beyond the industry standards, GIGABYTE’s engineering has enabled through its capabilities in design, PCB layout and BIOS fine-tuning the support of 1866 MHz memory frequency running at higher DIMM population (8 DIMMs per socket) where Intel’s standard and the rest of the market’s products will typically operate memory speed downgrade and support 1866 MHz at lower DIMM population only (4 DIMMs per socket). GIGABYTE therefore offers at launch on its 2011 socket based products this unique feature which will benefit to high density and memory intensive applications, such as high frequency trading, telecommunication networks, mobile data transfers, and so on.

The GS-R12PE1 includes GIGABYTE’s digital PWM controllers, guaranteeing a dynamic power supply to the processors and memory with an ultra-fast response time. Built with advanced calibration tools, they allow to get the purest and efficient electrical supply to date. When the CPU workloads vary in function of the applications running, the Intel Turbo Boost Technology will do a dynamic overclock of the CPU cores. This is where the digital PWMs outshine the previous analog solutions. This way the CPUs operations are much more stable, and the overall reliability of the system is greatly improved.
High End Dual GbE LAN Controller
Built with the latest generation of dual GbE LAN controller, optimized for virtualization, iSCSI and management related traffic.
This new high end controller also consumes less energy than before with an average 20W saving thanks to EEE and DMA coordination capabilities.
Finally, it also includes enhanced management features with the support of OS2BMC and MCTP.

With the support of the latest PCI Express Gen.3.0 technology directly on the CPU, the GS-R12PE1 is fully configured to provide users with dramatically reduced latency and improved data bandwidth to get the most out of its expansion accessories.
